Title 24 is the common name for the California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standard for Title 24, Part 6. This standard is in effect to help conserve natural gas and electricity. Ultimately, reducing our dependency on these natural resources as well as preventing the state from having to build additional power plants. This standard also saves money for the consumer and helps to keep our state green. Since the regulation has been in effect, California has reduced its per capita electricity use in comparison to other states whose consumption continues to climb every year. Our state has saved its residents billions of dollars on their energy bills. Plus, our state has eliminated more than 250 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. That’s incredible! Title 24 also helps home and commercial building owners by making their properties more valuable. Energy efficiency upgrades are extremely desirable features for those looking to buy according to the National Association of Home Builders. More over, prospective buyers are often times willing to pay more because they know they will end up saving a lot of money in the long run.
According to energy.ca.gov . . . . “Compliance with the Standards is essential in helping California achieve its energy reduction goals. Standards compliant construction also helps ensure that California’s buildings are comfortable and safe, and that energy bills are kept low.” Ways in which to be compliant: “The Commission helps homeowners and building professionals comply with the Standards by providing the Energy Standards Hotline, the Online Learning Center, the Energy Videos Center, and the Blueprint Newsletter.
